Joss Penny was born, raised and educated in England. He arrived in Canada at the age of 25 with a BSC in Geography and a desire to work. In 2004 Joss attained the Certified Association Executive (CAE) professional designation by completing courses and passing an exam as required by the Canadian Society of Association Executives.

Quite by chance in 1988 Joss was offered a position at the BC Motels and Resorts Association (now the BC Lodging and Campgrounds Association) it was supposed to be just a temporary front line position. As so often happens fate played its hand and some staff left within weeks of his arrival and he found himself unexpectedly promoted to the position of Director, Member Services a position he held for eight years until promoted to Executive Director in 1997.

Joss was Executive Director for six years but always with the thought that one day he would leave and start his own venture. This did not happen but instead in 2003 Joss took on a new portfolio of special projects for BC Lodging and Campgrounds Association. Joss currently manages the day-to-day operations of several key contracts and is involved in developing revenue diversification for the BC Lodging and Campgrounds Association. Projects include the Canada Select Accommodation Rating Program; administering the daily affairs of RV Rental Association of Canada; and managing three consumer web sites, and

Joss has been active in the tourism industry for sixteen years and has sat on a number of boards during this time. Notably the Hospitality Industry Education Advisory Committee (now Go2), Tourism Technology Cooperative Association of BC, Campgrounds Campings Canada, and the BC Chapter of the Canadian Society of Association Executives.
