Pets Can Stay announced today the certification of seventeen additional Starwood Hotels & Resorts properties with the Pets Can Stay program. The recent additions to Pets Can Stay’s growing family of certified properties include Westin and Sheraton hotels from California, Oregon, Washington, British Columbia and Alberta.

Helping establishments market and refine their pet guest programs, the Pets Can Stay program assures travelers and their pets that they will be welcomed and offered specific standard amenities while staying at a Pets Can Stay Certified property. Requirements for Pets Can Stay certification include offering non-smoking, pet-designated rooms, providing food/water bowls upon request, and maintaining pet fees that reasonably reflect cleaning and occupancy considerations instead of simply penalizing the pet owner.

Pets Can Stay certification aside, Starwood Hotels & Resorts is no stranger to servicing four-legged clientele. In 2003, the company launched its Starwood Love That DogTM program, much to the delight of pet owners. The program includes the provision of Heavenly Dog Beds® at Westin and Sweet Sleeper Dog Beds at Sheraton, pet ID tags, treats and additional amenities to its canine guests. “It’s a wonderful service offering that we happily provide,” says Kyndra Russell, director of field marketing for Starwood Northwest and Western Canada Region. “Feedback from our guests has been overwhelming positive and appreciative.”

With the completion of the Pets Can Stay certification process, travelers can now access detailed information on the participating Westin and Sheraton properties via the Pets Can Stay website at, including images, pet-related policies and services, and general property information. The Pets Can Stay website also allows travelers to link directly to Starwood’s online reservation system to access the latest travel specials and book directly into the Starwood location of their choice.
